Downtown Carlisle Association presents the CenturyLink Ice Art Fest will be held February 9 – 11, 2018. Over 70 different ice sculptures will be placed around downtown Carlisle for visitors viewing and picture taking pleasure. Sponsored by CenturyLink, the Ice-Art Festival will combine many events and activities in one weekend including the PNC Chili Cook-Off, free movies by Sprint, and so much more.
Produced by the Downtown Carlisle Association and chaired by event creator Robyn Dingle of 2nd Time Around consignment gallery on North Hanover Street, the event drew more people than the committee expected in 2017. “The event has been very well received by both business owners and the community.” Stated Dingle. She points out that the original goal was for 50 ice sculptures, but to date the Ice Art Festival over 70!
Most sculptures will be pre-carved and delivered by Ice Concepts from Hatfield PA. Other showcase sculptures will include an Ice Throne, sponsored by CenturyLink located at the Square, a working Ice Bar sponsored and located at Comfort Suites patio.
Kristen Ramsey of Orrstown Bank and past DCA Board President, stated it couldn’t happen without the downtown merchants who purchased sculptures and other corporate sponsors and business who opened their doors to host activities. “CenturyLink really stepped up to the plate this year with this new event. Their continued support has made it easier to get the ball rolling.” stated Ramsey. CenturyLink is the title sponsor for the Ice-Art Festival along with the Downtown Carlisle Association.
As the logo for the Ice Art Fest is a snowflake, the DCA has purchased 50 new giant snowflakes lights that will go on the Hanover and High Square street lamps for the event. "They are the perfect light displays for Ice Art and will give the downtown square a great winter glow while guests enjoy this winter festival” stated Nathan Tuckey, President Elect of the DCA.
